Christmastime

We usually had Christmas Eve together. The children reenacted the Savior’s birth. I remember the time that Keith was telling the story and changed it a little to tell about the “3 Wise Guys”. Another time, Sarah was portraying Mary and dropped the Baby Jesus. Singing was always a highlight for me. Carols were sung and as the children grew older they began to add other Christmas songs. These were sung in harmony. It was very touching. When we moved to Nevada in 1993, that was the thing I missed the most.

I remember one Christmas Grandma Lewis joined in with everyone to sing the “12 Days of Christmas”. She was supposed to sing “8 maids a-milking” and she said “8 maids a-laying”. It caused a huge outburst of laughter. Her face was so red. It was good fun!
